Goalie Notes:

  • Cam Ward (CAR) stopped 42 shots for the shutout over the RedWings
  • Ray Emery (ANA) stopped 22 of 23, but left the game with a minor injury.  Dan Ellis finished up the game, stopping 14 of 15.  Emery is ok to play.
  • James Reimer (TOR) was pulled after allowing 3 goals on 21 shots versus the Devils.  J.S. Giguere stopped all 11 he faced in relief.
  • Nikolai Khabibulin (EDM) and Antero Niittymaki (SJ) each allowed 6 goals in their losses last night.

Skater Notes:

  • Jarome Iginla (CGY) had 3 goals and 1 assist last night, giving him 14 points in his last 6 games
  • Corey Perry (ANA) also had 3 goals and 1 assist last night.  Perry is the first to reach 50 goals this season.
  • Ryan Getzlaf (ANA) registered 4 assists for the Ducks
  • Alex Ovechkin (WAS) and Alex Tanguay (CGY) each scored once and added 2 assists
  • Michael Grabner (NYI) had 2 goals for the Isles
  • Three players finished last night with 3 assists:
    • Eric Staal (CAR)
    • Bobby Ryan (ANA)
    • Mikael Backlund (CGY)
  • Joe Pavelski (SJ) had his point streak come to an end last night.  Sergei Kostitsyn now holds the longest current point streak at 10 games.

Injury Update:

  • Patrick Sharp (CHI) played for the Hawks last night, despite his lingering knee injury
  • Zach Parise (NJ) looks like he won't be playing again this season after briefly testing the waters earlier this week in one game
  • Alexander Semin (WAS) missed last night with a wrist injury

Recommended Starting Goalies for Daily Fantasy Hockey Tonight:

Only four games tonight.  Most favorable matchup is Vancouver at home against Minnesota.  No starter has been announced for the Canucks yet.

If you're looking for a cheap option tonight, consider Auld (MON) versus Ottawa.

With just 4 games, Draftstreet has moved the weekly $300 contest from Thursday to Friday, so check in tomorrow for picks.

  • Carey Price (MON) stopped 42 of 43 to help Montreal clinch a playoff berth with the win versus Chicago

  • Thomas Vanek (BUF) got the hat trick, scoring 3 goals on 6 shots
  • Jordin Tootoo and Sergei Kostitsyn each had 2 goals and an assist for Nashville

    • Tim Connolly (BUF)
  • Nikolai Kulemin (TOR) registered his 30th goal of the season last night for Toronto
  • Joe Pavelski (SJ) holds the longest current streak point streak in the NHL right now at 10 games.  He'll look to extend that tonight against the Ducks.

Injury Update:

  • Grant Clitsome (D-COB) returned for Columbus last night (knee)
  • Niklas Kronwall (D-DET) is expected to miss tonight's game

Recommended Starting Goalies for Daily Fantasy Hockey Tonight:

Lots of tough games to call tonight.  Here are a few good bets.

1. WAS vs FLA - With Vokoun on the shelf, the Panthers have little hope of beating the Caps.  Florida has just 1 win in 10 games, while the Caps have 7.  Expect Varlamov to start (not confirmed)

2. TOR vs NJ - The mojo is gone in New Jersey.  They have dropped 5 of their last 7 games.  The Leafs have fallen from playoff contention but still look like the better bet here.  Look for Reimer in net (not confirmed).

3. STL vs CHI - The Blues have won 5 of 7 in convincing fashion, while the Hawks continue to play themselves out of the playoff race.  Chicago has lost 3 of their last 4 games, including one against Montreal last night.  Halak was in net last night, so expect the Blues to turn to Conklin.

Don't forget, if you've enjoyed daily hockey on Draftstreet, they have an impressive lineup of options for Major League Baseball (if you're into that kind of thing), including a Free game tonight with $500 in prizes.  (Free game link)   If you're new to Draftstreet, use my promo code "LANDSHARK" for a 30% bonus on your first deposit.

Daily Fantasy Hockey Feed - 4/5/2011

Goalie Notes:

  • Antti Niemi (SJ) - Niemi stopped 31 of 32 to defeat the Kings and clinch the Pacific for the Sharks
  • Tim Thomas (BOS) surrendered 4 straight goals to let the 3-0 lead slip away.  He stopped 21 of 25 in the loss to the Rangers
  • Jonathan Quick (LA) allowed 4 goals on 20 shots before being replaced by Jonathan Bernier.

Skater Notes:

  • Kyle Wellwood (SJ) had a 3-point night, with a goal and 2 assists
  • Vinny Prospal (NYR) scored 2 goals for New York
  • Joe Thornton (SJ) reached the 20-goal mark for the 11th straight season.  He also added an assist.

Injury Update:

  • Tobias Enstrom (D-ATL) is expected to miss tonight (upper body)
  • Ryan Miller (G-BUF) will be out again tonight (upper body)
  • Paul Stastny (COL) will miss the rest of the season with a leg injury
  • John-Michael Liles (D-COL) will be out tonight (concussion)
  • Rick Nash (COB) will be out tonight (groin)
  • Steve Mason (COB) is doubtful for tonight (lower body)
  • Danny Briere (PHI) will miss tonight (lower body)
  • Alexander Semin (WAS) is questionable for tonight

Recommended Starting Goalies for Daily Fantasy Hockey Tonight:

Fanduel is running their last $1k shootout of the regular season tonight.  Here are my picks for best goalie options:

1. VAN vs EDM - The Canucks are on their way to the Presidents Trophy and have won 8 of 10.  Edmonton has just 1 win in their last 10 and have little to play for.  Luongo is scheduled to start.

2. NAS vs ATL - Rinne continues to make his case for Vezina contention as he squares off against the struggling Thrashers tonight.  (Rinne not confirmed)

3. STL vs COL - The Blues have averaged more than 5 goals a game for their last 5 games.  They face the weakest defense in the NHL tonight in Colorado.  Look for Halak in net tonight (not confirmed)

  • Mikka Kiprusoff (CGY) kept playoff hopes alive in Calgary, stopping 34 of 35 in the win over Colorado
  • Ray Emery (ANA) finally suffered a loss, allowing 4 goals on 31 shots against Dallas

Skater Notes:

  • Brendan Morrow (DAL) had a 3-point game with a goal and 2 assists
  • Patrik Berglund (STL) and Mike Ribiero (DAL) each had 2 goals
  • Corey Perry (ANA) scored again to take his goal lead to 47

Recommended Starting Goalies for Daily Fantasy Hockey Tonight:

Tons of games to choose from tonight.  Draftstreet runs their weekly big money pool, that they just bumped up to $400.   Here are some games to focus in on:

1. WAS vs COB - The Caps are 7-2-1 in their last 10 and face the Jackets who have nothing to play for at this point.  Varlamov is expected in net.

2. PIT vs TB - Fleury has a great record coming off a bad loss, like the one he suffered to Philly the other night.  Tampa has won just 4 of 10.

3. NAS vs COL - The Preds are flying and get a shot at the lowly Avs tonight.  Look for Rinne to continue his run for Vezina consideration.
