Top Picks for Daily Fantasy Hockey - Week 9

by chewy 1. December 2010 13:30

This week, I'll focus my top picks on Fanduel and Fantasy Sports Live.

Note:  "Value" picks are the best players on the very cheap end of the scale.  "Target" picks are higher end options that are still well below the upper price tags.  For comparison sake, the highest price tag by position is noted.

Fanduel

Starting up front, the best value anywhere continues to be Claude Giroux.  His salary actually went down this week from 6200 to 6000.  If Philly's on the schedule, make sure Giroux is in your lineup.  Also on RW, Andreas Nodl joins the list of value picks at a mere 3700, he's giving about 3 fantasy points a game.

At center, continue to play Stamkos and Crosby, regardless of the high price tag.  It's practically guaranteed points.  If you need to squeeze a mid-range pick in there, try Derick Brassard.  The Jackets are hot and Brassard is producing well for his 5300 cost.  And on the low end, Nazem Kadri is delivering for just 3400.

Left wing is a mixed bag.  The best value at that position is James Neal.  His price came down this week to 6600.  He's well worth it at that price.  If you're needing a cheap option, throw Taylor Hall in there for 3900.

On defense, nothing much has changed.  Babchuk, Pietrangelo, and Fowler are the top picks under 4k.  If you have a little extra to spare, go for P.K. Subban at 4700 this week.

Finally, in net, Martin Gerber makes his debut on the value list at 3300.  Don't expect his hot streak to last long, but at that price, he's a decent option.  Halak is now way overpriced at 8500.  Sergei Bobrovsky continues to be the most used goalie due to his 5k salary hit.

Fantasy Sports Live

Don't forget, when you sign up on FSL, use the promo code "LANDSHARKHOCKEY" for bonus money on your first deposit.

Starting at center, Stamkos and Crosby are also must-starts on FSL.  Stamkos actually saw his cap hit go down this week to 99, so don't be shy about using him.  Joe Thornton is a steal at 47 points.  Backstrom and Malkin are also priced reasonably.

At Left Wing, James Neal, Daniel Sedin and Pavel Datsyuk are players to target.  Datsyuk came down in price this week, as did Ovechkin.

At Right Wing, turn to Patrick Kane and Claude Giroux whenever possible, as they're both reasonably priced and are delivering good fantasy value.

On defense, there's still no reason to spend much.  You can get Gonchar, Keith and Weber for 30 points or less.  Cam Fowler has gone up slightly, but is still a good value pick at 19 points.

At goalie, don’t be shy about spending the money on the goalie with the best chance to win.  That said, there are a few worth targeting: Fleury's value hasn’t been adjusted despite his recent surge.  Bryzgalov's price went up this week, but he's still a good option at 107.
