Chewy's Round 2 Predictions

by Chewbacca 30. April 2009 12:19

He was only right half of the time in Round 1, but hey, let's hear what the Wookie has to say about Round 2.  Not a single matchup in Round 2 is an easy pick, so take it easy on the big guy if he goes wrong again.

BOS/CAR - After pulling out a breathtaking victory in one of the best series of all-time, can Carolina possibly have enough to take out the Eastern Conference Champs?    Absolutely.  Boston had a cake walk in Round 1 and hasn't played like a #1 seed since February.  Carolina has been on a massive roll since February, and will shock the Bruins with their aggressive play.  Carolina will take this series in 5 games.

PIT/WAS - Set your DVR to record every game of this series, as they'll be selling the DVD's in 2 months, and you'll save yourself $15.95.  Somebody will get badly hurt this over the next 2 weeks, and look for either Brooks Orpik or Alex Ovechkin himself to be the one inflicting the cheap shot.  As for who will win, flip a coin.  Mine came up Pittsburgh.  The Pens are on such a tear and the Capitals are so unpredictable, that you have to believe the Pens will come through.  Long series, though.  Pens in 7.

VAN/CHI - How on earth is anyone supposed to pick a winner in this series?  Chicago looks unbeatable with their speed and toughness.  Khabibulin suddenly remembered that he once won a Stanley Cup by playing incredible in goal.  On the other side, Sundin has much to play for and Luongo hasn't been cracked yet.  Nor will he be.  Vancouver in 7.

DET/ANA - How wonderful would it be to see the Ducks eliminate the highly favored Redwings?  Again.  The Ducks are tough and still stacked on defense.  Their young offensive stars are hitting their prime and may have enough to shake the shakable Osgood.  Then again, Marian Hossa hasn't arrived yet to show his clutch power.  If any team in the West is going to beat Detroit, it has to be Anaheim.  Chewy says it will happen in 6 games.
